Well, I am back from my trip home and FanExpo! Truthfully, I’ve been home for about two weeks now but it has taken me longer than expected to get back into the swing of life at home. Henry started school while I was away, so coming home meant jumping in to a whole new routine without any sort of down time. We’ve been doing well, but it’s still an adjustment! What I can say, is I’m LOVING my days at home with Jayne. He’s a much happier little boy and I think the quiet is doing both of us well. |
I’d love do a do a full update on my experience at FanExpo, and I meant to write it all out as soon as I got back. But, as my partner in crime Rachel can attest, the brain was all too foggy the first week to concentrate on anything! So now you have me, a few weeks out, adding some photos and a few comments. What I can say is this: it was AMAZING! I had an absolute blast meeting everyone and experiencing my first big con. Everyone was so nice and welcoming and supportive. I’ve rebooked for next year and I cannot wait to return!
Before FanExpo, I had a week at home by myself. That’s right, no kids! It was glorious and exactly what I needed. I was able to catch up with my sister with only her twins around (instead of chasing after all four of them!), as well as some friends, and of course, my mum. I will definitely do it again next year – go down 4-5 days before expo and just relax and recharge. I had a few people comment ‘that’s a long time to be away from your kids,’ or ‘aren’t you going to miss them?’ and the truth is, no, it was not a long time and no, I did not miss them. There, I said it. I was away for 10 days and I didn’t miss them. My husband works 65 hours/week and I am the primary caregiver for our boys and yes, I also work part time from home for a non-profit and run my own business. I don’t get a break. Ever. This was my break and it was glorious and not at all guilt-ridden. Actually, if there was any guilt it was in the fact that I did not miss them. I think everyone deserves a break and a chance to refresh on their own (parents or otherwise). This was my break and I’m already looking forward to next year!
FanExpo!
Day 1 Set-Up! All filled up and ready to go!
And that’s a wrap!
Heading Home!
I think they missed me!
All-in-All it was an absolutely perfect trip! The crazy summer was made completely worth it and I am so pumped for next year! Everyone we met was so lovely and I can’t wait to see them all again next September.
Thank you to everyone for your support and encouragement over the past few months… it has not gone unnoticed!
